Welcome To the StarShade
I. Welcome to the StarShade!
Welcome to StarShade Station (CS-7), your new home on the frontier! This guide is designed to help you navigate the station’s most prominent features: the massive “Biodome Petals” that make up our living and working spaces, and the fleet of commercial haulers that serve as our lifeline to the wider galaxy.
II. The Biodome Petals: Our Homes & Workplaces
One of the first things you’ll notice about the StarShade is its unique flower-like shape. The massive “petals” radiating from the central spire are not just for show; they are fully-independent, enclosed ecosystems known as Biodomes. Each set of biodomes is sponsored by one of the Accord’s “Big Six” founding worlds, and they are designed to be a true microcosm of the cultures and environments they represent.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll find in each petal group:
The Verilia Petals (Accord Central)
As the administrative heart of the Unity Accord, Verilia sponsors the biodomes that are core to the station’s daily operations and community life.
- The Hub: The administrative heart of the station, home to Central Logistics Command (CLC) and governance offices.
- The Homestead: The largest residential biodome, housing a diverse mix of citizens from all walks of life.
- Regenesis: The station’s primary medical facility, famous for its cutting-edge research in prosthetics and advanced care.
- The Canopy: A beautiful botanical garden and recreational park, perfect for relaxing and enjoying flora from across the Accord.
- The Athenaeum: Our main educational center, containing schools, universities, and specialized training facilities for both civilians and military personnel.
- The Melting Pot: The station’s cultural and entertainment district, filled with art galleries, theaters, and performance spaces.
- The Bastion: The command center for the Accord Fleet. This is the nerve center for all military and maintenance operations in the sector.
The Zybiria Petals (Esiri Research Division)
Zybiria is renowned for its expertise in xeno-biology. Their biodomes are dedicated to the intensive study of the life and environment of the contested world of Esiri.
- The Menagerie: A secure research facility housing and studying fauna recovered from Esiri.
- The Arbor: A botanical lab focused on Esiri’s unique plant life and its potential for medical or industrial applications.
- The Terrarium: A massive simulation dome that recreates Esiri’s ecosystems to study them in a controlled environment.
- The Anthropos: A cultural and archaeological center dedicated to studying the mysterious ruins and artifacts found on Esiri.
The Photheus Petals (Aquatic & Environmental Sciences)
Representing a world of vast oceans, Photheus sponsors the biodomes focused on marine biology, hydroponics, and environmental technology.
- The Trench: A deep-sea research center studying marine life and developing technology for underwater operations.
- The Greenhouse: A massive hydroponics and aquaculture facility that produces a significant portion of the station’s fresh food.
- The Maelstrom: An oceanography and climate-study dome, where scientists map weather patterns and research climate control.
The Bonir Petals (Arid Technologies & Commerce)
Hailing from a desert world, the people of Bonir bring their expertise in solar technology, arid ecology, and frontier trade to the StarShade.
- The Oasis: A research center focused on desert ecologies and water conservation techniques.
- The Helios: The station’s primary solar energy research and development hub.
- The Reliquary: A xeno-archaeology facility where artifacts from long-dead alien civilizations are studied.
- The Bazaar: A vibrant residential and market district, famous for its bustling trade floors and diverse merchant stalls.
The Yrene Petals (Industrial & Military Development)
Known for its rugged terrain and industrial might, Yrene sponsors the station’s primary industrial, geological, and military development biodomes.
- The Core: A geological research center for studying planetary formation and seismic activity.
- The Quarry: The hub for developing advanced mining and resource extraction technologies.
- The Genesis Sphere: A high-tech research facility dedicated to the science of terraforming.
- The Retreat: A residential and recreational biodome with a distinct Yrene cultural flavor.
- The Summit: An extreme environment training facility for both military personnel and civilian survivalists.
- The Forge: The primary research and development center for new military hardware and weapons systems.
- The Nexus: The station’s diplomatic quarter, where representatives from various systems meet.
III. The Hauler Fleet: Our Lifeline to the Stars
The massive commercial haulers, nicknamed “Sharks,” are the lifeblood of StarShade Station. These are not simple cargo ships; they are mobile cities and farms, housing thousands of crew members and containing vast hydroponic sections to feed their population during long voyages. They bring new personnel, vital supplies, trade goods, and raw materials from their respective homeworlds.
Each of the founding worlds operates its own fleet of haulers on a regular schedule. Below is the monthly arrival schedule so you know when to expect new goods at the market or greet friends and family.
(Note: All dates refer to the standard 30-day station month. For exact docking times, please check the public terminals managed by Central Logistics Command (CLC).)
