I. Overview
The Unity Accord Standard Time Cycle (UASTC) provides the universal temporal framework for all official, commercial, and military operations. To eliminate the historical and astronomical ambiguities of pre-Exodus calendars, the Accord has instituted a standardized system of nomenclature for all units of time.
II. The Standard Cycle – The “Year”
The foundational unit of long-term timekeeping is the Standard Cycle. This is not based on the orbital period of Old Earth, but on that of Verilia, the administrative capital of the Unity Accord. A Standard Cycle consists of 365 Standard Strokes.
III. The Sector – The “Month”
The Standard Cycle is divided into 12 equal Sectors to align with the 30-Stroke logistical rosters used by the Central Logistics Command (CLC). Each Sector consists of exactly 30 Strokes.
The Sectors are named in honor of the Six Expeditions that carried humanity to the stars and the six most influential Founding Sponsor worlds, creating a calendar that is both a tool and a tribute.
- Sector of Cygnus
- Sector of Carina
- Sector of Sagittarius
- Sector of Perseus
- Sector of Draco
- Sector of Ursa
- Sector of Verilia
- Sector of Yrene
- Sector of Bonir
- Sector of Photheus
- Sector of Zybiria
- Sector of Amari
IV. The Cadence – The “Week”
For optimal efficiency, each 30-stroke Sector is divided into five perfectly symmetrical Cadences. Each Cadence is a 6-stroke period, structured to enhance the work/rest balance for maximum long-term productivity and psychological well-being.
| Stroke Designation | Common Name | Primary Function |
| :——————- | :————— | :—————- |
| Alpha-Stroke | Al-Stroke | Work/Duty Cycle |
| Beta-Stroke | Be-Stroke | Work/Duty Cycle |
| Gamma-Stroke | Gam-Stroke | Work/Duty Cycle |
| Delta-Stroke | Del-Stroke | Primary Rest Cycle |
| Epsilon-Stroke | Veri-Stroke | Secondary Rest Cycle |
| Zeta-Stroke | Auri-Stroke | Tertiary Rest Cycle |
This structure ensures that every Sector and every Cadence follows the same predictable, efficient rhythm.
V. The Stroke – The “Day”
The Standard Stroke, or simply “Stroke,” is the fundamental unit of daily time, consisting of 24 standardized hours. The term “day” is now used only in the local context of a specific planet’s rotational period relative to its star.
VI. The Unity Cadence – The Intercalary Period
The 12 Sectors of 30 Strokes account for 360 Strokes of the Standard Cycle. The final five Strokes of the Cycle stand alone as an intercalary period known as the Unity Cadence.
This period is a system-wide holiday. It begins with the Day of Remembrance, honoring the sacrifices of the Exodus, and culminates in the Day of Unity, which celebrates the ratification of the Accord. These five Strokes are a universal time of rest, reflection, and community, serving as the temporal “reset” that keeps the galactic calendar in perfect harmony cycle after cycle.
VII. Implementation & Daily Life
While the UASTC governs all professional and interstellar affairs, the Accord respects local tradition. Planetary populations continue to observe their local seasons, transits, and cultural holidays based on their own world’s unique astronomy. The ytterpulse serves as the essential bridge, allowing a citizen to manage their personal life by the local sun while conducting their professional life by the universal clock of the Accord.
